060525 - Witnesses of Truth, Identity, Ristoration

On Thursday, 25th of May 2006, at 8:00 in the evening, with the collaboration of Aztag Daily, Mesrobian High School organized a lecture entitled "The Witnesses of Truth, Identity, Restoration", presented by the Mekhitarist Cultural Association in Lebanon, in UAC Araradian Hall in Ashrafieh - Lebanon.

At the opening speech, Mr. Sarkis Levonian emphasized on the miraculous fact of the nation's survival from the Turkish massacre, deportations and all other atrocities. He continued that it is the historians' responsibility to explain the relationship between a nation and the land and one of the ways to do it is to rely on the live witnesses.

The lecturer, Father Krikoris Serenian, using an audio-visual presentation, himself a live witness, presented the 14 days journey he made in Western Armenia, along with a team of specialists. His team of around 60 members consisted of doctors, architectures, professors, academic teachers, as well as Father Levon Zekiyan, the founder of Armenology Association of Venice, Mrs. Gabriella Oulhojian, lecturer in Armenology Association of Bolognia, Father Vrtanes Oulhojian and many other reputable specialists.

The lecture, full of pictures, was presented in objectivity and simplicity. The lecturer was not aiming to make scientific demonstrations and analysis, but rather, he tried to explain the facts as presented in the pictures. He was also concerned of the Armenian historical monuments conditions in the Western Armenia and urged Armenians all around the world to take all means and actions to save those valuable monuments as much as possible.

After the lecture, which took around two hours, Father Krikoris offered some time to answer the questions of the presents.
